A better start might be to relate to changes in the world outside. It seems to me that some people are very static in their assumptions of the ideological forms of capitalist society - there's no reason why capitalism cannot 'go feminine'. How about the reclamation and ascendancy of 'feminine values' in society at large over 'masculine' values? For a stark example, look how the military is re-packaging itself as a 'gender normed' women-friendly, human-rights loving organisation. One problem with the feminist critique of masculinity tends to be it's moral character - all the rhetoric about 'dead beat dads' is reaciontary criticism imv. Another is gender theorists/social constructionists reproducing old prejudices as virtues. Gary D. --- from list marxism-thaxis-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
