Dear Marxologists: Welcome to the marxism list Chris Bailey! I thought your
posting very interesting, both in relation to the poersonal side and also the
comments on Steve Keen's papers/remarks. I'm not saying that I agree with you
re Steve's theory. I am very interested in your views on the labor theory of
value, but also on the nature and historical functions of Trotskyism. The
group you were linked to: in Australia they were called the "Socialist Labour
League", a very sectarian Trotskyist organisation. This group was far more
sectarian the slightly sectarian Socialist Workers Party. I'd be interested
to know, from a Marxist point of view, what the "beliefs" of your Trotsky
organisation were, and why they were ultra sectarian; also the background
to their breakup. You might want to communicate privately or publically
on this, depending on how general the interest might be. It could be of
general interest if placed within the context of the Trotsky-Bukharin-
Stalin themes in modern context (??) - or in the context of Marxist theory.
It seems to me that the Trotsky line - while left wing - incorporated little
of the Economic and Philosophical manuscripts of 1944 type themes. (??)

best wishes, Phil O'Hara
