	I think the "philosophical" early works of Marx are important 

Marx's even earlier works on Jesus are more important for their appeal to the 
religious morality of sacrifice, an appeal which led to what philosopher 
George Walsh (in his _Marxism_) called the discontents of the modern world, ie 
people who wanted sacrifice but not the religious tradition that justified it. 

I forgot where I read about Marx's early works on Jesus, perhaps in 
Kolakowski.
