By the way, Marx didn't say 'the point is not to understand, but change 
the world', but 'the point is NOT TO EXPLAIN, but to change the world'.

There is quite big difference in that? Marxists claim, that they have 
a theory, which helps to *understand* the world to make it possible 
to change it. Understanding means that kind of explanation, which shows 
the *reasons why* things are like they are, so that change becomes 
possible; 'only' explanation shows only how the things are, if left alone?

(Other possibibility to understand these concepts is the way, which is 
used in von Wright's "Explanation and Understanding"). How do americans 
in general UNDERSTAND these concepts?
