Reich's greatest insight perhaps was his question "what is it that makes 
the masses of men desire their own repression?"(loosely quoted).  This 
question, which re-evaluated fascism as a populist movement rather than 
as a top-downed totalitarian system, led him in many(odd) directions. 
However, the insight of the question remains of central importance, I 
would argue, particularly in understanding the work of Foucault.
