Yes, but I don't know where to begin. The damn elections are stressing me
out. I'm going to concede most points to Justin and you in an upcoming
post, because I'm unable to keep posting so much stuff right now. I'll
hang on, though, and continue reading.

I don't know where to start in coming up with an alternative model of
economic democracy. I'm just unwilling to accept market socialism, I
guess. For one, my college's library (which admittedly is horrible) has
very few materials on MS; what they do have is from James Yunker, who
seems to be a popularist who writes in an annoying funky-evangelical
style, or at least he does in one book I of his I picked up.

Everyone is crying out for something new. Our comrades doing the legwork
of leftist political activism around the country need a vision, not
necessarily a comprehensive one, that is fresh and insightful, and blazes
a new path. Such a thing can't be found in Marx (not fresh) or leftist
political analyses such as those by Noam Chomsky (not blazing a new path),
or in leaders such as Nader (not insightful (he never looks at problems as
systemic)).

I think what we need to look at is not only a re-examination of Marx and
Keynes and social democratic ideas, but also of the concept of the liberal
state, the social contract, the Lockean right to property, etcetera. We
need to wed our Marxist conclusions not only to feminism and racism theory
but also to Gramsci's cultural understanding.
