Subject: RE: d jones and environmentalism


I am a bit confused on just what an environmental critique of capitalism
would be.  For instance, how would we discuss the importance of of 
preserving nature without ascribing to it some kind of value, a value
that I fear might end up commodifying nature.  For instance, the idea
or question of how much rainforest we "need" or "can afford to save" seem
often mired in capitlistic concepts of value.  If someone could suggest 
how to avoid this, that would be quite helpful.
