Subject: Re: Bordgist current Date: Thu, 28 Jul 94 15:20:27 +0100 From: wpc-AT-cs.strath.ac.uk Bordiga was the first leader of the PCI until comintern had him replaced by Gramsci. They were both imprisoned by Mussolini, but Bordiga survived. Following the end of the war, some leftist elements in the resistance movement who disagreed with Togliattis accomodation to the new republic formed the new PCI with the I now standing for International. Bordiga became a militant in the new party and remained active until his death in 1970. The party still exists with branches in a number of European countries. There is also a number of similar sects arising originally from a the Italian lefts temporary diaspora. ------------------
