Astronomers predict that as a main sequence star, our sun will eventually develop into a red giant and engulf the inner planets. This is a predicted fate for the earth. It would become a teleology if one were to say that the sun existed in its present form, in order, that it might later consume our planet. Similarly one can non-teleologically argue that there are tendancies within capitalism that make its long term survival unlikely and replacement by socialism likely. ------------------
