Subject:  air-traffic, computers


I too saw the news, about the air-traffic contol computers going down
at a major airport last week.  Repair people have to get pretty
creative just to find the parts - including tubes salvaged from old
computers overseas.  But not to worry, they said, there is a back-up
system (wonder what that looks like?) which is good enough, even
though it does not have the same capability in locating the planes. 

Of course, the gov. pleads lack of money.
