(fwd) Ok, I hate to say it, but those assholes shouldn't be punished by any organized system. They should be socially stigmatized from extreme hate shoved at them. No university or instituation of any kind should enforce a "hate speech" policy. The thing about freedom of speech is that if we are going to have it (as I feel we should), we have to allow EVERYONE to have free speech. I don't think that those "75 reasons" really truly convinced anyone to go out and rape a woman or duct tape her mouth shut. In fact, it most likely had a reverse effect and made a lot of us realize that the fight is not over. One of the big problems that communism in effect and out of theory was that people were so repressed no one could join together to rally against an opposing force. Freud said (badly paraphrazed and I'm not a follower anyway) that in order for society tio function the majority must come together to hurt the minority as a method of confirmation of power. It's true in modern society as I see it. It's a shame, but we have to be honest. I caould not ask an institution that played no part in the scandal to assign blame. I think a true "jury of peers" (is it easy to find scumbags like that?) should judge these creeps. It can be us. It can be their "friends" It can be their mommies and sisters and girlfriends. I don't see how any one can advocate a "hate speech" policy and claim to be doing it for the good of America. Do we want a Soviet Cover Up of emotion that is genuinely circulating Amerika? I'm not anti-society, society's anti-me I'm not anti-religion, religion's anti-me I'm not anti-tradition, tradition's anti-me I'm not anti-anything, I just want to be free. This is the latest word I have received on the incident of those 4 Cornell guys sending out the e-mail concerning the "75 reasons." > Cornell University announced Thursday that it will not discipline the > four freshmen who wrote "75 reasons why women (bitches) should not > have freedom of speech."
