As to the science you mention, here we suffer from the lack of Marxist theorticians in the physical sciences. It seems to me that there is somewhat a retreat into agnosticism and idealism in the name of 'modernity' and updating. This is not at all to argue against updating but updating pre-19th century idealism and skepticism is hardly original nor fruitful IMO. Scott ps. I was spit on in the South for being 'poor white trash', but I still reject racism and racist institutions.
