Being a new subscriber to the list, I unfortunately find myself trying
to pick up the threads of various discussions over the posts of the last
two days. Not an easy task.

Therefore just a brief note on uneven development: Robert Perrone writes
on 24 Nov, that Lenin wrote about uneven development in
"Imperialism...", 1916 and that therefore Trotsky's contribution was not
the last great one. I think this may be picky too, but I believe
Trotsky's "Results and Prospects" from 1906 elucidates his thinking on
combined and uneven development. This, of course, is the basis for his
theory of permanent revolution.

What is more important however, is the fact that both Lenin and
Trotsky's understanding here converged at a crucial point (see Lenin's
April Theses), providing the framework to move from the February
revolution to October.
