Subject: A Steinbeck Question

Hi,

Here's he beginning of a substantive post from me. (I tried it once before
hated it but I'll try again since I complained enough before about
lsit methodology.)

I've been considering Steinbeck's _In Dubious Battle_.

*What* is the relation of Steinbeck to Marxism? He rejects the COmmunist
Party often, but on the surface he seems blatantly a class-analyst.

But what of his theory of the Phalanx? He comes off as more as a
theorist of mass society than as a true marxist. I realize this is
a horribly written query, but I'm in a terrible rush this time
of the semester, and i've popped on to the computer for these few moments.
