For example, the United States is consistantly upheld as a model system by A.I. (the death penalty, and proof of wide spread torture by police in Chicago not with standing). It gets a rating of 1 on a scale of 1 to 7, 1 being the best. We who live here, know well its problems: its weighted towards wealth and whiteness, and against the poor, women, and people of color. If you can't afford a lawyer, you are most likley going to jail. If you are white, you most likely won't be arrested for minor offenses or recieve light sentences, etc. Amnesty has little to say about that, because it follows "due process." AI's main sin is not that it fabricates evidence against those it dislikes, but rather, that it ignores evidence of those it favors. AI considers bruises and broken bones to evidence of torture and beatings in every country in the world but one. According to AI, Isreal is not violating Palestinian human rights, nor are the torturing them, when this treatment is applied to Palestinians. In part, this is because just about every Palestinan that gets detained by Isreali security forces goes through this, and thus it is an incredible work load, but mostly it is because Israel is seen as a model nation.
