"As preoccupied with illegal immigration as Pat Buchanan is, you'd think
he'd be an expert on the problem.  You'd be wrong.  On a single television
program, the February 18 edition of ABC's THIS WEEK WITH DAVID BRINKLEY,
Buchanan referred to "five million illegal immigrants coming into this
country," then to "one, two, three million, invading the Southwest," and
finally to "two million people walking across your border."  In fact, the
actual annual inflow of illegal migrants by air, sea and land is
approximately 300,000, according to the Immigration and Naturalization
Service--hardly a pro-alien source.  And the TOTAL number of illegal
immigrants living in America is approximately 4.3 million--less than 2
percent of the population."
