Subject: Re: Artist's Appeal for Labor Party

		Mr. Flanders et al,

Can we decouple new proposals (such as teh soc.politics.marxism
newsgroup and the LPA) and typical left-wing sneering? At the very least,
new things have the potential to carry the imprimature of those who influence
their early beginnings.

Someone on this list immediately dismissed the soc.politics.marxism
newsgroup, because of some differences with the proposal, completely ignoring
the fact that the reason that the proposal is put put is to create discussion
to alter the proposal to the concensus. Why not try to form the concensus,
or at the very least your little part of it?

When was the last time that someone with a top-rated network TV show
backed an outwardly socialist cause that didn't involve fuzzy animals,
foreign countries, or nuclear power plants? With all the opinion expressed
here, one would think that a discussion of a labor party platform would be
easy to come by.

It seems to me that a Labor party (US) that, as proposed, put forward
no candidates on its own could include people frm a wide spectrum of the
left. No, it's not going to be exactly what YOU want. That's the point.

	peace,
