Subject: Peru thread - epistemology

I have not caught up with all the contributions on Peru yet, but one
thing stands out for me - the fallacy of believing that there
is absolute truth.

Although IMO the Althusserians go on unnecessarily long about it,
it has surely been demonstrated on this thread that there is no such thing
as total absolute truth that any one of us can be sure we
have access to.

And that there is a link between political
sectarianism and those who in their style of writing appear
to be believe there is such a thing as absolute truth.

I feel I am in the company of Luftmensch on this point,
because I do not think it necessarily implies political
agnosticism.

I am philosophical in this respect if we are vulnerable to attack
from either side.
