Judging by Thursday's report by Vladimir Davydov, Russia Deputy-prosecutor, outright fraud of virtually every description will be employed by Yelstin and his western backers, including the International Monetary Fund, to ensure a "favorable" outcome in the June elections. Davydov told parliament that up to half of the 1 million signatures "collected" by Yeltsin backers to put the president on the ballot were probably obtained fraudulently. In one of many examples cited, factory workers were forced to sign petitions for "democracy's champion" before they could collect their pay. On others occasions, mid-level military officers loyal to Gen Grachev simply filled in the names of the men in their regiments, often not even bothering to change their handwriting from one signature to the next. Numerous government departments witnessed the birth of internal Yelstin campaign organizations, utilizing virtually every public means at their disposal to ensure the requisite number of signatures. And there were many examples of outright coercian directed against pensioners, farm workers, and the like. With Russia's criminal "democracy" and "free market" in tatters, imperialism and its lackeys inside the Soviet Union, including the numerous "democratic" parties (many of whom were only yesterday peddling their bogus "human rights" campaigns in an attempt to excite popular indignation against socialism) will stop at nothing, including another coup, to see that the "liberals" cling to power. It is not that they fear Zyuganov and the born-again communists so much as the demoralizing effect a communist victory would have on the political landscape of Russia, a country now overripe for the picking. --- from list marxism-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
