I think Eagleton is clearly the most accessible marxist literary critic.  
His _Marxist Literary Theory_ is only about 80 pages long, while his 
best-selling _Literary Theory: An Introduction_ is quite amusing.

Sadly, Terry's also seriously misleading a lot of the time, so he's best 
to read for attitude and a mode of engagement than much in the way of 
serious description or even very sound historical information on (say) 
new criticism or Addison and Steele.  But no matter, really... you can 
always get that information from the usual, stodgy sources.
