It's been reported by several usually reliable (translation into PCP: duped
lackeys of the world bourgeoisie) that Fujimori's crackdown on Shining Path
has made him quite popular because the masses of Peru fairly hate SP. I
think we are experiencing a minor (i.e. no one's been killed yet)

Agreed. This l'st has become in this respect for some, a symbolic
enactment of the class struggle, instead of an opportunity
to comment on the class struggle going on out there.
