I wouldn't waste any more time on the Professor--he will doing this same shit twenty years from now; shepherding small groups of "marxists", cajoling, threatening, expelling, etc., finally splitting off, amoeba-like into yet another incarnation, like he's done his whole life. Every year, they become more and more a caricature of their former selves--sort of like "Barney Googles" and "Spark Plugs" from the old funny papers.
