Comrades 

This is my last post to the list  and I want to take up a little of your
time making my farewells, if I may.  This  is not the time for
recriminations but I do accept as one of the moderators of the list  I
should have acted much more decisvely to protect it from the Olaechea gang.
However I bear the latter mob no bitterness. I have a deep sympathy with the
problems of the mad and Olaechea is clearly patholgical. Nor am I angry with
Godena who provided them with a platform and crucial support.  They have had
their great victory and now must live with it and each other. That is my
comfort.  However I endorse Leo's remarks about Spoons.  When the moderators
needed support and power we were not given it.

At its best this list provided some of the most exciting and rewarding of
experiences.  There was intellectual debate of the highest order and also at
times warmth and humour which touched me deeply.  I would like to mention
here Chris, Lisa, Lou and Ken who  have all helped me with a personal
situation.  For a time the list was indeed full of great hearts and minds.

I do have regrets though.  I was never able to participate enouugh and some
of the  contributions I planned never eventuated.  I intended to take Lou on
about ethics and  the Sandinistas.  I would have liked to have  got back to
Hugh about his response to my piece on the SPD. Similarly I  wish I could
have gotten round to crossing swords with Bryan re anarchism and the dream
of the absolute. Karl's great posts on Ireland were read by me but I never
got back to him.  we could together have worked up a thread about Marxism
and Ireland. Chris and I could have had a debate about the role of the
irrational in Marxism.  Maybe it would have helped us.

So comrades. Farewell and fond regards to  all people of good will- Jeff B.,
Jerry, Leo, Charlotte (yes!), Luciano, Adam, Carlos, David, Marcus, Jeff S.
etc  I have a print out of list addresses and I would like to think that
some of you might keep in touch.
