Subject: Question on Unions..

Dear List,

I have a question. What did the left do when the Kennedy boys went after
Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters?

Did they defend the unions against state intervention, (which ment defending
Hoffa)
while critisizing his politics or did the left do something else?

The reason i ask this is that i spent some time with Hoffa in Lewisburg back
in the seventies. Political activists were trying to get Hoffa to join a
rainbow coalition of black organisations, anti war organisations and the
union in coming out against the war. Everybody knows that Hoffa made a deal
with Nixon and sold out the union for freedom.

But i feel that the correct position on this must be to defend the unions
against all intervention by the state including corrupt officials, while at
the same time critisizing the leadership for its pro-capitalist line..

Warm Regards
Robert
