Subject: Virtual Reality?
Dear comrades,
I regret that some of the quotes appended below contain evidence of
some confusion.
Ken, if sectarianism were banned from this list that would of course
not cause it to cease to exist, that is not why any body wanted to
ban it, I am sure. We may not be able to "choose the terrain" for
"struggle" but I hope that we may choose what kind of conversation we
have.
Robert also seems to regard this list as a "field of combat."
Instead, I regard the schools, school boards, legislature, major news
media and the State Capitol building as being a field of actual
struggle for the ability of bi/les/gay/straight alliance high school
students to exist and meet together without bashing and
illegalization, for instance. In cyberspace, I think that there may
be VIRTUAL struggle, but I think it is less productive than ACTUAL
activity. IMO
For the Chegitz I have much sympathy, but I would remind him that
neither of the Spoon's two marxism lists is intended for "organized
marxists". Until marxism list changes its own info statement, it
still says that "being a marxist is not required".
Discussions lists are intended for . . . discussion.
Discussing struggle is not quite the same as conducting struggle.
I know my seat never got sore by hiking up capitol hill and selling
buttons all through the biggest human rights demonstration in the
history of Utah, like it gets sore in front of this screen.
Cheers,
Lisa

The processes of the last two weeks have been frustrating and
annoying, but unfortunately life as a revolutionary is frustrating
and annoying.Political processes and real live politics are not the
subject of academic debate and nice platitudes but the harsh reality
of experience. That some of us are tired and worn out by secterianism
and hence want to ban it does not in itself make it go away.We cannot
choose the terrain all the time on which the struggle continues.

I guess the ivory tower has decided to build a new list. Well that is
better then the expulsion line they were driving. Good Luck! But you
are really political cowards by leaving the field of combat open for
the PCP...

And the final lesson I've learned is that a small gang of thugs can
easily disrupt unorganized Marxists, a lesson that the fascist
inflicted on us in the 1920s, which we forgot.
