Subject: Why one should support the Labor Party,

 >> During the high points of the struggle, it is parties based on class
struggle which grow, not parliamentary ones. AFTER these high points, DURING
the DEFEATS, parliamentary ones grow. In the 30's in the US, the CP ( and to a
lesser extent the Trotskyists ) grew.

This is a good point Adam. The mantra of the SWP-US right now is that the
labor party will come out of rising struggles. My question is, why would we
want that then? Couldn't something better be built?

I see the Labor Party as a school of experience for workers who see the need
to take political power but still hold illusions in the reformability of
capitalism.....still the majority view in the class....not just the trade
union bureaucracy.

I have found Cannon's writings on the Labor Party campaign for the SWP-US
useful in thinking about this question. Will post about it if I have the time.
