That is the the way the capitalist system of wage slavery is supposed to work. This trend can begin to change when the rank and file workers get themselves politically and industrially organized in active struggle. The AFL/CIO union apparatus and their hangers-on will not do this as they too support capitalism and the wage slave system is like mothers milk As usual they are too busy handing over workers dues to the Democrats ($40 million so far this year alone ). When John Sweeney spoke at the Democrats convention, he could have exposed the Democrats connivance with the crimes of the Republicans but he would never do that. Instead he issued some milquetoast appeal to allow the workers to go to ball games on Saturday and church on Sunday. That will put the fright into the ruling class! So much for John Sweeney's ideas about defending workers! We have to realize how much the US 'labor movement" has degenerated in our lifetimes and especially over the last 20 years. Back at the turn of the century, even Gompers style reformist unionism would demand MORE of the wealth that labor power creates and capitalists steal. Today the union leaders plead poverty for the bosses and demand that we take LESS! Times cry out for the rank and file workers to take matters into our own hands and build a new militant labor movement based on class struggle and NOT on class collaboration. Our lives and those of our fellow workers and our families depend on that! Leave the voting booths empty, work for a revival of working class struggle instead. Los Angeles Workers' Voice, Box 57483, Los Angeles , CA. 90057 Sept.1, 1996 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $12.5 million that each of these capitalist parties spent gorging themselves on catered food and fancy hotel suites & litera lly partying it up should have gone to the homeless and the unemployed victims of these parties of the rich parasites instead. When these well-heeled convention delegates dance the Macarena, they are really mocking the working class. While the Demopublicans sing and dance, more workers suffer speed-ups, wage and benefit cuts , racism and unemployment. The rich get richer and the workers and poor people get poorer.
