Subject: Re: India reading

Louis P writes re books on India:

>Another book I would highly recommend is "People's History of England".
>The author is a CPer and a terrific historian, but I can't recall his name.
>While the book is mainly a study of how capitalism developed within England,
>the chapters on colonialism will give you a vivid sense of how England
>underdeveloped India (in the sense of Walter Rodney's "How Europe
>Underdeveloped Africa.")

The author is A.L. Morton.

The copy I've got is the second edition, Lawrence & Wishart, London 1945.

The book has a motto taken from William Morris:

Ill would Change be at Whiles, were it not
for the Change beyond the Change.

Cheers,

Hugh
