So maybe dialectics has been superseded by "phase transitions," "bifurcations," and all sorts of other not so common sense language. But small changes in control variables eventually leading to big changes in state variables ("quantity into quality") are not necessarily common sense, although examples such as Hegel's old water melting one certainly abound to convince those willing to pay attention.
