  Indeed.  Back in my native Scotland my grade in Classical 
  Greek ('Higher' level, which meant things like translating 
  Homer, Aristophanes, etc) was A.  Of course that was 2 
  decades ago and I'm a wee bit rusty now.  However, like 
  Justin, I don't think knowledge of Greek or etymology in 
  general is of much relevance to having a substantive 
  understanding of the philosophical senses of "dialectics".
