Tom Condit wrote about "the long words and
self-indulgent phraseology in the Situationist stuff", and then gave three
explanations about this judgment.
I have nothing to say about the second ("I was prejudiced by who their
fans here were"), because I don't know the fans about who he's writing, I
have an advice about the third but not enough documentation to motivate it.
About the first, he may be right: perhaps the english translation of the
books of Debord and Vaneigem is bad, but in french they are very well
written, and it would be wrong to speak about them of "long words" and
"self indulgent phraseology".
