From: MARQUIT-AT-physics.spa.umn.edu Date: Wed, 28 Aug 1996 7:18:05 -0500 (CDT) Subject: call for papers in Marxist Studies Call for Papers for volumes 9 and 10 of NST: Nature, Society, and Thoughta Journal of Dialectical and Historical Materialism Nature, Society, and Thought was founded in 1987 as an interdisciplinary academic journal to provide a quarterly forum for the exploration of current ways of working in the intellectual tradition of dialectical and historical materialism. We welcome investigations of current theoretical and ideological issues in Marxist theory and we seek creative applications of related methods to all fields of study. We also welcome contributions not explicitly employing these concepts or language if the content or subject matter is in an area of particular interest to our readers (African American and feminist studies, philosophy of science, current left and progressive politics, for example). NST is presently catching up on its publication schedule, closing the gap between cover date and actual publication date, and is coming out approximately every two months. We have been using up our backlog of accepted papers, therefore, and need more. Rapid turnaround is assured! NST is a refereed academic article, and all submissions are reviewed by at least two readers with expertise in the subject and/or Marxist theory. Normal length of articles is between 3,000 and 10,000 words, and standard scholarly documentation is expected. Book reviews (750 to 1000 words) are also published, as well as longer essay-reviews discussing several books. Anyone interested in writing such reviews should write NST giving the titles proposed. (We can usually provide copies.) Submissions should be made in triplicate, double-spaced (on diskette if accepted). Manuscripts should follow the MEP Publications Documentation Style Guide, which appears in vol. 7, no. 1. Request a copy of the Style Guide or a sample issue of NST today.
