Another day ... yet the reality, sense of loss, and horror is still
sinking in.

Like Louis, I had the opportunity to meet Lisa on a number of occasions
when she visited NYC this Spring. The most memorable occasion was when I
took her to visit some of my anarchist friends in a squat in the Lower
East Side. We had a grand time -- especially Lisa who had the opportunity
to smoke her favorite substance. She was one of the few people I know from
another part of the country that was immediately accepted and could have
fit-in well in that unique crowd.

On that occasion, she talked a bit about her political activism in Salt
Lake. At one point, she opened her bag and took out a postcard with a
panoromic view of SLC -- which she bought and brought for the sole purpose
of showing the people she met in NYC what SLC looked like. She was like
that. Very organized. Yet, at times, very emotional. She wore her heart on
her sleeve. A huge, strong heart. Yet, ironically, it was her heart which
failed her.

Lisa has also been discussed on PEN-L (the Progressive Economists
Network). Barkley, in particular, wrote a nice piece. Here's something I
wrote yesterday which fills in a few other details that others have not
mentioned.

Lisa was also a former school teacher.

She was a political activist. In particular, she was involved in
supporting gay and lesbian high school students in Salt Lake City.

She was a committed feminist and I believe one of her last projects was to
establish a Marxism-Feminism list.

She was very proud of her garden and her rhubarb jam.

She was an essential part of the Spoon Collective.

She, oddly, was a member of the DAR and the DUP (Daughters of Utah
Pioneers).

She was a warm, caring, loving friend.

She will be remembered also as a pioneer in Internet Marxism.

I'm still in shock and will leave it at that for now.

Jerry
