Unless slavery has been restored recently on a limited basis in France,
you have no fear of being bought and sold. It is one of the defining
characteristics of capitalism that workers are "free" to sell their
*labour-power* (rather than themselves as laborers) on the market in
exchange for a wage. "Wage slavery" should not be confused with slavery
proper.
