Cammett" <JMCJJ%CUNYVM.BitNet-AT-pucc.PRINCETON.EDU> Subject: Bibliografia gramsciana --------------------------------------------------------------- John Cammett has published a two-volume bibliography listing and classifying more than 10,300 writings in thirty-three languages on the life and thought of Antonio Gramsci (b. Ales, Oristano, Jan. 22, 1891 - d. Rome, April 27, 1937). They are 1)_Bibliografia gramsciana 1922-1988_ (Rome: Editori Riuniti, 1991) Pp. xxiii-457, and 2) [with Maria Luisa Righi] _Bibliografia gramsciana, Supplement Updated to 1993_ (Rome: Fondazione Istituto Gramsci, 1995), Pp. 269. The complete work is now available on the World Wide Web, along with electronic copies of the five published _Newsletters_ of the International Gramsci Society, edited by Joseph Buttigieg of the Dept. of English at the University of Notre Dame. The site also contains links to the sites of the Fondazione Istituto Gramsci and to those of other relevant organizations. This electronic version of the _BG_ is a _combined_ edition of the two printed volumes. It contains a new Introduction and a number of revised lists or appendices including a _Help File_; the _Number of Entries by Languages of Publication_; the _Number of Entries by Year of Publication_ (both by Year and by Five-Year Periods); an _Index of Names and Subjects_ (58 pages long in its printed version); and _Indexes of Reviewes._ Those interested in Italian history and politics will be able to select and print out titles of publica- tions on any name, subject or geographic area mentioned in the entire database. The editor plans to update the _BG_ every Spring with listings of new publications on Gramsci as well as older ones not included in the original volumes. He also plans to include brief biographies of Gramsci in all the major languages of publication on Gramsci's life and thought. These are in order of frequency: Italian, English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Russian, Hungarian, Serbo-Croat, Polish, and Greek.
