Not much of an introduction but Jurgen Habermas's 
Legitimation Crisis and Herbert Marcuse's One Dimensional 
Man have had some sway over me.  Karl Popper is always 
one to watch out for too.  Of course one of my fav's is Murray 
Bookchin.  Pretty much anything by him will have a cutting 
edge take on technology and culture.
