Subject: psychoanalysis


Hi folks, 

I just finished spending a couple of hours a day (over a period of a month and a half) in an ostensibly Freudian psychoanalytic-studies e-mail forum. A very tolerant (and often very entertaining) group. No reciprocity to speak of so far as theoretical approach (goes with the territory), but I got some interesting insights into the drift of end-of-millenium psychoanalytic opinion and practice. 
My entry into the forum was compassionately facilitated by Jean, a practicing psychiatrist, and anti-feminist(?!). 
Also featured the specular rise and fall of e-Med (psychiatric department) after a Jungian analyst tried at arms-length to pathologize us as marauders of the unconscious (also unable to interpret ourselves, our relationship with each other, or our relationships with those close about us).
