Ken: 

Two possibilities presented themselves (almost same day): toward or away from analytic reasoning. Gotta go with the person who's been reading between the lines.
Impressions, feelings, intuition.... 
One "utopian" tableau does come to mind. There's a Pompeiian fresco in Naples. A Napoleonic-looking Dionysos is standing on some raised platform affair or other. Apollo is standing below and to one side (looking subdued); and there's a rather star-crazed-looking Venus seated opposite. 
The possibility that rationality and the free-rein of affectivity did co-exist (however briefly, or 
necessarily within a proscribed sub-culture) would be one example of the realization of a utopian vision. 
But who would get the idea to construe this vision as pathological?
