Subject: G.B.Shaw and Modernism

Hello,

I am working on an interdisciplinary Honors project on the oppositional politics of the early literary modernists
(those before 1930) . To make a long story short, I am using Shaw as a figure in my study. Although I have run
across articles arguing his literary "avant-gard-ness" and his place in modern theater, he seems to be situated in
an very uneasy place in modernism. Where exactly would G.B. Shaw fall in the modernism? Personally I would place
him as more of a "proto-Modernist" or a very late-Victorian, but it is hard to gauge to what extent I can argue
his place in this culture. Any words on this would be extremely illuminating.

Thanks,
RS
