Are you at all familiar with Joan Stambaugh's, Pierre Klossowski's,
or Deleuze's  interpretation of eternal recurrence? All of these
well respected, no good academics argue that the eternal return is
not actually a return of a particualr cycle containing the the
exact same events but rather a return of chance that is nonetheless
necessary. Nietzsche himself explicitly states that his understanding
of the eternal return does not involve a final state, for such a
final state would amount to reducing Becoming to Being. As Nathan
wrote, this list has been over this many times.
