Coleman,

Thanks for bringing this up.  I think in recent weeks this list has 
become more adolescent (not the same thing, we should note, as being
interestingly critical of the scholarly ethos) and more of a "boys" 
club.  Lets talk about gender.  And by the way, talking about gender does 
not mean that one is "part of the protectorate of women"--we all, even 
you my dear Friend (not Coleman but Mr. Rape-fantasy) have a gender 
afterall.  Furthermore, taking an interest in gender _inequality_ is not 
a matter of selling out, as was suggested.  It involves listening and 
taking seriously another side of the story.  Behind any talk of 
rape-fantasy hides a sickening ignorance and a timid, indeed resentful, 
hatred.
