To follow Nietzsche means to not follow Nietzsche, because those of us "in the know" don't follow anyone anymore, thank you very much. This is why when people start reading Nietzsche's stuff they start using "I" so much. The same thing would go for both women and men. So to some extent, feminist philosophy is a direct result of Nietzschean thinking. But this presents women with an interesting dilemma: can they create themselves in their own image, or do they have to come along with the rest of us deep into the pit of nihilism in order to overcome it? And speaking of overcoming nihilism (my main concern, the reason I'm on this list), do I have to give up giving up? Do I have to stay healthy? And what is growth, anyway? IS it like Mrs. Rand says, that it's an individual thing, and I can't ever do anything half-hearted or I'm selling my soul? Or is it more of a pain-oriented thing, diving in head first, overcoming... overcoming...I'm alive!!! My name is Arthur, I'm new here. If this is 'juvenile', good. --- from list nietzsche-AT-jefferson.village.virginia.edu --- ------------------
