I think that Thomas has a point. Perhaps the real success or failure of a 
philosopher should be measured by the effect that he has on his readers, 
and that the interpretations that manifest themselves on this list are 
only a small part of Nietzsche's continued significance. Thomas has 
obviously engaged with Nietzsche in a powerful way, and it has apparently 
improved his life: who can fault him for that? He may come to Nietzsche 
in a way which some people find irrelevant or distasteful, but that 
doesn't illegitimatize his experience of Nietzsche. In many ways I see 
his engagement much more encouraging than many interpretations of 
Nietzsche I've come across, both here and elsewhere, in which the 
interpreter seems more concerned with conveying his own ideas, or his own 
ego in some cases, than in discussing Nietzsche in a meaningful way.
