christianity is passive nihilism, in the sense that it substitutes the
sensual/earthly world for an ascetic ideal of future redemption. In that
way, it is a revengeful morality (remember Catarphilus?).
But, like christianity, so is the thought of the übermensch an ascetic
ideal. It is Zarathustra's revenge of the present with a hope of future
redemption. That's why he replaces this thought with the one of the Eternal
Return, that must not be understood in cosmologic ways, but rather in an
existential one.
