What of Nietzsche's "every art >and science"? And, again, what did Nietzsche mean by "science being >theology's handmaid for too long". What makes you believe he was referring >only to "non-actual science"? Nietzsche never uses the term "actual >science". Clearly he meant all of science. > >Does religion spawn science in Nietzsche's view? Is this part of some ER? Is >all science non-actual? Does science too have a history? > >John T. Duryea > No answer yet, eh LambdaC? To think that man through the ages has labored on the question of knowledge and here on the Nietzsche List, our own LC has discoverd or indeed, has perhaps invented, "Actual Science". He's given us only two hints as to its' nature: 1. cheerfulness 2. experimentation But, how can this be science? It seems more like physiognomic scepticism. Surely LC has not simply co-opted another page out of the book of the physiognomic sceptic? This "Actual Science" is quite possibly one of the greatest discoveries of man. Clearly LC will not leave us sitting on the edge of our seats wondering. Come now LC, share a few more clues as to the exact nature of this most wonderful thing of yours... Actual Science!!!! Why, just the sound of the phrase sets the heart to beating faster and the mind reeling. What would N. have made of this discovery? Ahh, if only he would have lived in an age when such an astounding thing came to light... You might start LC with the moment you first envisioned the magnificent phenomenon of "Actual Science". Was there a sort of heavenly light illuminating the discovery? Actually, John T. Duryea --- from list nietzsche-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
