Date: Sat, 1 Aug 1998 10:31:52 -0400 (EDT) From: Kelly Timothy Lynch <ktlynch-AT-vex.net> Subject: Off the cuff There seems to be a lot of "off the cuff" responding around here. It is certainly not necessarily _all_ wrong-- it seems to me there are often enough elements of truth there. But, _if_ understanding Nietzsche is the aim, something more could be helpful. This question of metaphysics-- or should I say questions?-- for example--: Allow me a humble suggestion: Why not begin by looking at chapter 1 of _Human_All_Too_Human_I_, and I mean the _whole_ chapter? Perhaps if I can find the time I will kick this off with a few comments posted here. P.S.-- This talk of Heidegger and Nietzsche which keeps popping up now & again, frankly I am somewhat mystified that people can really take Heidegger on Nietzsche that seriously. With Heidegger you are breathing an entirely different atmosphere, as it were, you are virtually on different planets. Everything Heidegger touchs is transformed into something peculiar to this atmosphere. Reading Heidegger on Nietzsche tells you more about Heidegger than about Nietzsche. Enough for the moment.
