Hitler also used a 'terrorist' attack to instigate a pogrom, the Reichstag fire. Attributed to a renegade Dutch Communist Van de Lube, it may have been the SA or SS. I view 9.11 in the same light, whether or not Washington was involved. Of course, a pogrom was initiated, and now Washington has a pipeline to the Central Asian oilfields. If Hitler had won he would have behaved exactly as the US has, in fact Hitler suspended the Geneva Convention on the Eastern Front, declaring this to be a war of two contrary ideologies, no quarter would be given (and none taken as it turned out).

how do you react to those British Conservatives who maintain that the US 'got what was coming to it' on 9.11 as a result of its citizens support through monies for the IRA?

  Just got this.

It seems that both British and American extreme conservatives are more apt to be favorable to the conspiracy theories and retributive arguments about 9-11. Strange thing, isn't it?

Since I'm not a conservative, but merely a hawk on the terror war, I have little sympathy for their views. But it's interesting how quickly Irish-American financial support for the IRA dried up after 9-11.
