Pat,

your post has relieved me a lot! As I've just written to Ceri, the whole "list
wars" matter, considered as an exchange of kindergarten hostilities, was
beginning to vex me quite a bit. For though, as you pointed out, some people may
be deeply hurt and damaged by the PL mods "administrative actions", it was the
pathetic ridiculity of these outbreaks that I couldn't sustain any longer. And we
would be no grain better if we were to respond in the same manner. Whims are
there to be laughed at, and besides, that's the best way to cure them.

Yes, you're right, all this has the stuff for satire (or satyre), or a hilarious
internet novel, or a soap opera, or the frame plot for a dinosaur movie...
everything but that cold and humourless hostility I had feared would emerge. I
feel better now.
