Sometimes tedious; sometimes mildly upsetting, to the point where one steels
oneself (or procrastinates) before opening messages.

True, but we are not trying to prove that the PL filter-list has good reason
to exist, are we? Although neither you nor I is on it. But others are, and
in some ways the problems that we have with the existence of that
filter-list is the original raison-d' of this one. There's nothing the PL
Mods would like to see more than nastiness on this list, esp. by those on
the filter-list, since they think such activity proves that they are correct
on this subject. There have been threads on the Meta-PL list (in Nov.) about
how horrible this list is. Even one nastily interpersonal post gives people
who would like to make this argument ammo that can be used for months. Since
I have said, there, that such nastiness rarely occurs here, I'd prefer not
to be made a liar if no one cares too deeply one way or another. And I think
there is no necessity of or point in being directly nasty, in any event, as
I tried to argue in my last post.
