I don't intend to get into the peripheral issues here. If Freud on the arts is
completely whacked out, and his logic leaves much to be desired, should we be
looking more closely at his reasoning in other areas?

Uh, there is nothing "theoretical" about mistranslation. It is error. You
have said nothing whatever about you theory. You have said that _this_
application of the theory results in an erronious reading. I have no
difficulty with that at all. You may argue that Freud not withdrawing the
book shows he was a bad person. I am not interested in arguing that either.
But you cannot assume that mistranslating a word makes "Freud on the arts
completely whacked out." This is another example of the optomitrist's
error, and is irrelevant to the question of theory.
